Estonia should keep producing electricity from oil shale in the long term.

Oil shale from Ida-Virumaa has been the backbone of Estonian electricity. It provides security of supply and jobs in the region, but it is highly polluting and expensive because of the European CO₂ price. Current plans keep it as a reserve.

Estonia should pass a climate law with binding targets for cutting emissions.

The climate law (Climate-Resilient Economy Act) has been in preparation for several years. It would set out how much Estonia must cut emissions in each sector to reach climate neutrality by 2050.
