Economic axis (left ↔ right)
Measures your position on the role of the state in the economy: taxes, public services, market regulation, pensions. Further left means more state intervention; further right, more market and lower taxes.
Political compass

Just saying “I am left-wing” or “I am right-wing” falls short: you can be liberal on the economy and progressive on social issues, or favour state intervention in the economy and be conservative on values. The political compass solves this by placing your views on a two-axis map.
The parties of the 2027 Riigikogu elections
We have run the documented positions of the 7 parties in the test through the same formula that places you at the end of it, as if each party answered the 38 questions. It is an indicative map: it shows where the parties land based on their positions on our questions, not how they describe themselves or where other studies place them.
| Party | Economic | Social |
|---|---|---|
| SDE | -83.3 | -53.6 |
| Keskerakond | -77.8 | +28.6 |
| EKRE | -5.6 | +85.7 |
| Isamaa | +22.2 | +46.4 |
| Eesti 200 | +44.4 | -57.1 |
| Reformierakond | +50.0 | -53.6 |
| Parempoolsed | +88.9 | -25.0 |
Left on the economy and progressive on social issues: SDE.
Right on the economy and conservative on social issues: Isamaa.
Right on the economy and progressive on social issues: Eesti 200, Reformierakond and Parempoolsed.
Left on the economy and conservative on social issues: Keskerakond and EKRE.
The compass does not take defence, language or Europe into account, issues on which several parties differ a lot: that is why some of them end up closer to others than you might expect. Each party’s positions, question by question, are on its page, and the calculation is in the methodology.
How to read it
Measures your position on the role of the state in the economy: taxes, public services, market regulation, pensions. Further left means more state intervention; further right, more market and lower taxes.
Measures your position on individual freedoms, customs, identity and authority: civil rights, migration, tradition, security. One end puts social change and freedoms first; the other, order and tradition.
The map
State intervention in the economy and social freedoms. The classic space of social democracy and the green left.
Free market and social freedoms. Liberalism in its broad sense.
State intervention in the economy and traditional values. Less common in parliaments, common among voters.
Free market and traditional values. The space of classic conservatism and the national right.
Your position
Our test calculates your exact position on the compass from your answers, not from labels, and shows it alongside your match with the parties. You can then see what each party stands for and understand why you land where you do.
